Über dieses Exhibit:
Technology is all consuming. It dominates a fair amount of our daily interactions, filtering our world through a small display. The notifications given to us by our smart devices are distracting. However they are also necessary. The world we live in today requires a constant connection to our friends, our media and the collective knowled- ge base that is the internet. How are we to balance the dichotomy of a connected wor- ld with the personal interactions that we need as part of the current media.culture?
A smart watch was conceptionalized, that could not only lessen the burden of our connected lives, but also enrich the lives we lead in the real (physical?) world. Such a device would have to notify discretely when we’ve received a call or message, without interrupting the flow of our day. It would have to monitor our behavior and create user profile to better understand and support. Using this smart watch would have to be intuitive and natural, allowing any user to operate it.
The Discovery Smart Watch, using geolocation and user profiles, can guide its user to interesting locations These “discoveries” display without name, creating an air of mystery and surprise to the user. Using intuitive vibration alerts and current location information, the Discovery Smart Watch’s hands point its user towards their desti- nation. Upon arrival the watch notifies the user and asks if the location fit’s the users interests. The watch can also alert the users texts and calls which can then be accessed from a smartphone or dismissed entirely ba a shake of the wrist.
Using the user profile, the smart watch can also display nearby events and concerts that the user might find interesting.
